Youth Critics Club:
NewsReel provides the opportunity to screen a diverse selection of films and discuss topics on them and their relevance to world culture through a specially developed curriculum and occasional Q&A’s with filmmakers.
Students will develop and produce the show NewsReel. They will apply the technical, communication, and literacy skills they have learned. The show will be in 3 segments where they will provide commentary and reviews on media they watch, writing questions for filmed interviews they’ll conduct of local artists, and writing and performing skits —in addition to being involved in the pre- and post-production with the support of Cincinnati Film Society staff. RiverReel: Teen Fest is a part of our international film festival RiverReel: Sound. Light. + Music. Motion. Students will be given the opportunity to collaborate in making a film and premiering it during the annual festival. CFS will provide students with the tools they need to make the film from pre to post production.
