Dear Families of Taft High School,
It has been called to my attention that a rumor is circulating in the community that the school district is looking to sell the Taft High School property. This couldn’t be farther from the truth.
It goes without saying; CPS is committed to Taft High School. The West End truly is a special place and the Cincinnati Public Schools Board of Education will continue to make an investment here.
With the district’s enrollment on the rise, we have opportunities to expand the CPS footprint by opening more schools, renovating current facilities and enhancing our programming so that our students can make their mark as the influencers who shape our world in a positive manner.
Our formula for success is playing out right now at Taft High School. Students are gaining real-life experiences in cyber security. For the first time this summer, students enrolled in the program will work in a paid internship, side-by-side with cyber security industry professionals. Next school year, a new early childhood education program will lead students to a future pathway of becoming an educator.
Taft High School has a proud legacy, due in part to our alumni, parents and community supporters, and we intend for that legacy to continue for years to come.
Laura Mitchell, Superintendent
