Senior Institute (SI) courses are designed to expands students' knowledge in the specialty area of Information Technology. In the Senior Institute, students take a two-bell course during the 11th and 12th grades in either Interactive Media or CISCO Networking Academy. Both Senior Institutes are based on ItWorks.Ohio. Interactive Media Senior
Institute
Students enrolled in the Interactive Media Senior Institute will become
competent in the areas of creating, designing, and producing interactive
multi-media products and services. Students will learn how to use
multi-media technology to develop products and programs that will be useful in
many areas of life, such as business, entertainment, mass communications and
advertising. Skill areas include things such as Web page design,
computer-aided publishing, digital sound, digital video, digital photography,
graphics and animation, and Power Point. Students have the opportunity to
become certified in
MOS (Microsoft Office Specialist). Students specializing in
Interactive Media can expect to receive jobs with titles such as imaging
specialist, media designer, multi-media specialist, Web Designer, and
Multi-media Technician.
Students enrolled in the CISCO Networking Senior Institute will become competent in the areas dealing with the planning, implementation and analysis of network systems. Students will learn how to analyze networks system needs for design, installation, maintenance, and management. Skill areas include things such as operations, network administration, basic network design theory, computer hardware maintenance, and network management. Students specializing in CISCO Networking can expect to receive jobs with titles such as Network Specialist, Network Operations Analyst, Local Area Network (LAN) Technician, and Customer Service Coordinator. Students enrolled in the Information Services and Support Senior Institute learn everything there is to know about computer repair and support. Students are actively engaged in learning how to assemble and disassemble computers as well as to provide support for people having computer problems. Students enrolled in this program are equipped with skills needed to pass the A+ Certification test.
